Do Not Attend Policy

In a typical month at the practice, many appointments are wasted due to non- attendance.

Woodlands Park Health Centre therefore feels it is necessary to introduce a policy dealing with patients who repeatedly do not attend (DNA) or fail to cancel an appointment they cannot (or do not wish to) keep.

Failure to attend or cancel the appointment results in reduced availability for other patients and wasted clinical time.

Our policy is detailed below

1.         Missing 2 appointments within 6 months will trigger a final warning letter.

2.         Missing 3 appointments within 12 months may lead to possible removal from the practice list with a letter detailing the need to register with another GP provider.

3.         We reserve the right to remove any patient who repeatedly abuses the appointment system with repeated missed appointments, and has missed more than 3 appointments at any time.

It is unfortunate that we have felt it necessary to put such a policy in place, but we have to consider the availability of appointments for the majority of our patients who attend, or at least cancel in advance.

To cancel an appointment you can either telephone the surgery on 0191 236 2366, or if you have online access, logon and cancel the appointment via system online.

If you cannot attend your appointment for any reason please let us know as soon as possible, we can then offer the appointment to someone else.
